Rejection

What gives you the strength to overcome rejection

Someone recommended this book to me sometimes back and told me that it is a brilliant book as it helps you to overcome your own fears.  So, I thought why not  when I have the time.

Although this is a book on rejection, I found there are a lot more insights than simply taking courage to overcome our fears.

Unlike the author, I never wanted to be an entrepreneur, my dream is always to be the CEO of a MNC, not starting my own business, for I am not a creative person, how can I ever be an entrepreneur ! So what will I learn from this book.

However, the book is really an “easy” read so I continued. But it sparkle so much thoughts that my head is swirling with more provoking thoughts.

What is rejection? Why does the author spend so much time talking about it, a blog, video and even gain fame from it.
I find the author’s approach very intriguing, using the Jason Comely‘s theory, he decided to do a 100 days rejection journey. Wow, I think this is really brave! I meant deliberately to seek rejection to desensitize oneself to the pain of the world no. I simply can’t image if I have the “lizard” in front of me 24/7, ( you see I am really scared of lizards – if they suddenly appear in front of me, I won’t be able to stop screaming and ended up shivering in fears/shocks).

What the heck! Who in the hell will do such a ridiculous thing! Everyone hates rejection, so do I! I would think of ways and means to overcome people rejection – to get their agreement. I think he is nuts to do such a thing. Yet, he is truly one of the kind, apparenlty he wants to build accountability, what better way than blogging.

Being a life coach and have recently embarked on an online retail business, rejection is inevitable. This book seems the perfect solution to my situation.   So, if I am in his place, what would I do? And what have I done so far?

Rejection? Why is everyone so fearful of this term that it made us stop doing what we so desired or wanted to do.
How can we desensitize ourselves other than this ingenious matter by Jia Jiang

The author talks about this love, his dream that he had since he was a child and how unhappy he has been even though he has a 6 figure salary job. Eventually, his very supportive wife issued him a challenge to go and do what his heart truly wants with the 6 months time frame. This is where he begins his journey.

His first obstacles was a rejection, a NO from the investor. He was totally devastated and wanted to give up (when it is only 4 months into the timeline), his wife spear him on. This ingenious guy then think of way- his very famous 100 days of rejection journey to overcome his fear of rejections..

There are 2 things that really caught my attention:
One - His determination, his focus when it was obvious he is scared, he is fearful of what is to come, yet he take courage to do the opposite : there was this nagging unfulfilled desire that he knows he need to try otherwise he would regret for the rest of his life.

Do you have something that is nagging at you yet you are scared to leave the comfort of your security?

I want to challenge you to find that fulfilment!  That value that is in YOU!     Although I am not Jia Jiang, his courage to pursue his dreams is phenomenal, we all have our own “secret” dream or desire that we have forgotten, locked away.

When you are 85 years old, and looking back,  what is the one thing that you will say to yourself ? “I wish I’d had the courage to ……” What is yours?
Two – Support. He has a wonderful supportive wife that not only believe in him but also encourage, challenge him. There is always a saying behind every successful  man (woman), there is a woman (man). How truth – looking at his story, we know he will probably stay at his job and be miserable if his wife hasn’t issue him that challenge. And where is your support? If you are single, then how can you get your support to spear you, who are the people who believes in you!
